Tonik Associates Shortlisted in the 2021 International Hotel & Property Awards
We’re delighted to announce that Tonik Associates have been shortlisted in six categories for this year’ International Hotel & Property Awards.
The International Hotel & Property Awards, are hosted by design et al, a leading UK interior design magazine. Their aim is to commend design, recognise talent, create opportunities and quite simply to offer inspiration. The International Hotel & Property Awards offer a number of different categories covering hospitality design, interior design and property design.
Tonik Associates have been shortlisted in six categories for the work completed on two new London hotels, Middle Eight and The Guardsman. Shortlisted award categories include:
Hotel Under 200 Rooms Europe (Middle Eight)
Hotel Under 200 Rooms Global (The Guardsman)
Hotel Suite Europe Award (Middle Eight)
Bar/Club/Lounge Global Award (The Guardsman)
Restaurant Within a Hotel Europe Award (Middle Eight)
Bar/Club/ Lounge Europe Award (Middle Eight)
The Guardsman and Middle Eight are part of the Shiva Group and are two hotels with very different stories to tell.
Situated in Central London, between Holborn and Covent Garden, Middle Eight is a luxury lifestyle hotel, which has been transformed from a humble city hotel. The hotel’s 12 unique suites have been carved out of the windowless 1st floor space (formerly meeting rooms) to provide astonishing light filled spaces via internal, naturally lit courtyards. These spaces complement the 190 bedrooms, which now cleverly provide junior suite facilities in every room.
Public spaces are dominated by the use of natural materials including a stunning hand crafted reclaimed oak reception desk and a bar ceiling sculpted from thousands of metallic sycamore leaves.
Located a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace, The Guardsman is a luxury boutique hotel comprising of 52 bedrooms and 6 residences. This new build “Smart Hotel”, elegantly fuses old and new, taking a look at traditional Britishness through a 21st century looking glass.
Within each guest room, a fully mirror-clad bathroom enclosures becomes lost, increasing the sense of space within the rooms themselves. These beautifully crisp, contemporary design statements are softened by location-inspired traditional detailing seamlessly partnering luxury with technology. This design language is continued throughout the building with a cutting edge feature staircase, connecting the club-like lounge with a brasserie inspired restaurant in the basement.
The work completed on these two projects was a result of five years of dedication by the full team at Tonik Associates and we are honoured to have been recognised for our efforts.
