The Lowry Re:Treat

Strategic Consultancy | Concept Development | Interior Design | Design Management

We partnered with MRV to redesign the spa and wellness area at the iconic Lowry Hotel in Manchester. The existing spa had a cold feel and our mission was to bring a softer and more inspiring feel to the area.

We transformed the very white and minimal old spa space by using soft soothing earthy tones, natural wood textures and plants to create a warm and calming atmosphere. We brought a sense of nature to the spa by introducing a terracotta pot plant wall in the lounge area and continued this throughout the spa with the living wall in the corridor.

The reception area creates a sense of tranquillity and calm with re-charging zones where you can grab a drink form the new bar area and relax. The circulation corridor is a long space that we wanted to break up by adding textures, shapes, plants and softer warm lighting. It was important for us to use sustainable lighting, so we opted for bamboo lighting from Good & Mojo, who support the WakaWaka foundation. Similarly, we opted for handmade artwork from the village of Ninh Binh, who use natural materials and support children attending school. The new studio is a flexible space that can both calm and energise. The treatment rooms have also been upgraded to be in line with the Lowry’s luxurious guest rooms.
